About lacquerware repair

Repainting and repairs

At Asada Urushi Ware, we offer repainting of discolored bowls and other items.

Lacquerware, especially bowls and other vessels used to hold hot food, can sometimes cause the black or vermilion lacquer to turn brown over time. This is a natural phenomenon that occurs depending on how often the lacquerware is used, as it is a natural tree sap.

If cracks or breaks occur, they are repaired using lacquer, and the repair process takes approximately one to three months .
