A vessel that captures the changing nature.

Having four distinct seasons.
I believe it's a small gift we've received from the nature of this country.
Budding in spring, deepening in summer, coloring in autumn, and quieting in winter.
With the passage of seasons and time, trees change their colors and shapes, creating expressions unique to that moment.

As the saying "Seventy-Two Microseasons" suggests,
Japanese people have long paid attention to these subtle transitions, appreciating the beauty of each passing moment.
Enjoying the ever-changing expressions of nature. This is something Japanese people have enjoyed since ancient times.
I believe it's one of the great joys of living in Japan.

In Ishikawa's deep mountains, in this place surrounded by trees.
Using techniques cultivated over more than four hundred years, we carve wood and paint the changing scenery,
creating tableware that captures a beautiful moment of nature.

Please gently place asada on your dining table.
It will surely bring the beauty of nature gently into your life as well.

Lacquerware experience course

About Asada Lacquerware

Asada Lacquerware continues to embrace new challenges while upholding the 450-year-old tradition of Yamanaka Lacquerware.

Carving a single piece of wood, applying layer upon layer of lacquer.

These daily efforts accumulate to create vessels that blend into daily life and enrich someone's time.

We will continue to "connect tradition to the future" and spread it worldwide, sending forth new stories of lacquerware from the land of Yamanaka Onsen.

About the Murakumo-nuri Lacquer Technique

Murakumo-nuri is a unique lacquering technique where the freshly lacquered surface is exposed to soot from a Japanese candle, creating patterns resembling dark clouds.

In the Yamanaka lacquerware producing region, there are only about 10 artisans who specialize in hand-lacquering, and only one of them is capable of performing Murakumo-nuri.
Asada Lacquerware is committed to training new artisans to ensure the continuation of the Murakumo-nuri technique.
