About Asada Lacquerware
Feel the time of lacquerware in the palm of your hand.

Asada Lacquerware Crafts is a workshop located in Yamanaka Onsen, the birthplace of Yamanaka lacquerware, that has been operating on the foundation of lacquering techniques that have been passed down for generations.
From woodworking to painting, we have continued to make tableware that can be used for a long time in everyday life, supported by the handiwork of local artisans.
As lifestyles and dining scenes change with the times, we have not only preserved tradition, but have also taken on the challenge of using colors and expressions that are in tune with modern sensibilities.
One example of this is the use of new techniques, such as gradational colors and Murakumo lacquerware, which is made from the soot of Japanese candles.
Careful craftsmanship is possible only in a small, family-centered workshop.
We will continue to deliver lacquerware from our mountainous land, quietly incorporating it into the daily lives of those who pick it up and making them grow fonder the more they use it.
Please take your time to enjoy the world of lacquerware, woven together with color and handcrafted work.
👉 For first-timers, we recommend the light-colored "Utsuroi Cup."
️A unique view in a vessel.

Murakumo lacquerware, which is created by covering the product in soot from a Japanese candle, is a special technique that only a limited number of Yamanaka lacquerware artisans can use.
A combination of chance and skill means that no two patterns are ever the same.
From everyday vessels to artworks.
This is another form of lacquer expression that Asada Lacquerware Craft has arrived at.
