Why Night Lights Were Born

The "Night Lights" series began with a fortuitous gold and black gradation that emerged during the spray painting process.

The moment I saw that expression, a night view I'd seen from the Marunouchi side of Tokyo Station in winter, looking towards the Imperial Palace, came to mind. Lights glowing in the quiet night, and the black sky stretching across the clear air. I felt that I might be able to express that scenery through painting. That feeling is the origin of this series.

Afterwards, night scenes that had previously moved me, such as snow illuminated by streetlights in Yamanaka Onsen, and light reflecting on the water's surface, overlapped in my mind, and the worldview of "Night Lights" gradually took shape.

Looking back, there was a common theme in the products we have created.

"Utsuroi" (Transition) is the beauty of seasons and hearts slowly changing.

"Tasogare" (Twilight) is the colors that appear only for a brief moment as day transitions to night.

And "Night Lights" expresses the tranquility felt precisely because it is night, and the warmth that light brings.

What each product depicts is not a shape, but a landscape that changes with time.

Even in the same place, the scenery changes as time changes.
Even in the same season, there is a beauty that can only be encountered on that specific day, at that specific moment.

We want to express that fleeting moment with lacquer and paint.

From "Utsuroi" to "Tasogare," and then to "Night Lights."

Time flows, and landscapes change.

To continue depicting these transitions is the philosophy of "asada, the company that paints scenery."
