SUWARI, a vessel that nurtures.

In our hectic days, we tend to forget to stop and think.
SUWARI gently teaches us to "stop for a moment, take a deep breath, and savor the present."
This vessel is not just a tool for pouring drinks.
It was created to gently nurture your senses, habits, and your time.
This cup is carved from solid zelkova wood using the traditional Yamanaka lacquerware technique of "turning on a lathe." When placed gently, it sways gently and then "sits" quietly.
Its movements seem to reflect the rhythm of life.
The name "SUWARI" means "to sit" or "to settle down."
The sight of this cup swaying gently before returning to its original position will serve as a guide to bring your mind back to the present moment in the midst of your busy daily life.
The sides are decorated with the rare "Murakumo-nuri" lacquer technique, which uses soot from Japanese candles.
By trapping the soot in the lacquer before it hardens, fantastical patterns like floating clouds and flickering flames appear.
The charm of these dishes is that they change little by little each time you use them.
The white becomes glossy and the vermilion develops into a deeper red.
This is not just a vessel, but a quiet companion that will accompany you in your daily life.
This vessel calms your mind with each sway.

SUWARI, a vessel that nurtures.
In our fast-paced world, we often forget to pause.
SUWARI invites you to do just that—slow down, breathe, and savor the moment.
This vessel is not just for holding a drink. It is designed to nurture your senses, your habits, and your time.
Crafted from solid zelkova wood using the traditional turner's wheel technique of Yamanaka lacquerware, each cup gently rocks when set down, echoing the quiet rhythm of life.
Its name, SUWARI , comes from the Japanese word for “to sit” or “to settle.” Just like the cup itself, which settles back into place after a gentle sway, it reminds us to ground ourselves in the present.
The surface features a rare lacquerware technique called Murakumo-nuri , in which soot from Japanese candles is captured in layers of urushi, forming ethereal patterns reminiscent of drifting clouds and flickering flames.
Each time you use it, the cup changes—ever so slightly.
The white becomes glossier, the vermillion deepens. As the years pass, SUWARI grows with you, becoming more beautiful, more yours.
This is not just a vessel. It's a quiet companion, waiting to nurture your daily rituals—one gentle sway at a time.
