Utsuroi is a word that describes the slow passage of time, like the changing of seasons.
We named it "Utsuroi" with the aim of creating lacquerware that utilizes traditional techniques while naturally blending into modern lifestyles.
The wood used for the base is zelkova, and each piece is turned to be as thin as possible.
The exterior is finished with a glossy metallic color, while the interior is coated with natural lacquer.
The coating changes its appearance depending on the angle and light, giving it a texture somewhat like quiet metal.
When held, it has a cool feel reminiscent of a titanium cup, yet you can also experience the gentle mouthfeel unique to natural wood.
The thickness is only about 1.5mm.
Though it appears delicate, wood does not easily conduct heat, so even when hot food is placed in it, heat is not easily transferred to your hands, making it comfortable to use.

The colors are modern, yet the zelkova wood grain is visible through both sides, allowing you to feel the warmth of the wood. The coating can be reapplied if it becomes thin (for a fee).
