"Utsuroi" is a Japanese word that describes time flowing slowly, like the changing of seasons.
We named our lacquerware "Utsuroi" to represent our aim for pieces that, while leveraging traditional techniques, naturally blend into modern living.
Made from zelkova wood, each piece is turned to be as thin as possible.
The exterior is finished with a lustrous metallic color, while the interior features natural lacquer.
The coating changes its appearance depending on the angle and light, creating a quiet, metallic texture.
When held, it has a cool feel reminiscent of a titanium cup, yet you can also experience the gentle touch unique to natural wood.
With a thickness of only about 1.5mm.
While appearing delicate, wood does not conduct heat easily, so even with hot food, the heat is not readily transferred to your hands, making it pleasant to use.
